Editing Styles
I understand that each and every client has a unique style and vision for their wedding and engagement photos. I also recognize that different styles of wedding venues and decor pair well with various photo editing styles. To accommodate these nuances and preferences, I offer a few editing styles. I encourage you to choose one of these styles for your wedding, based on the examples and guidance provided below. Unless guided one way or another, my signature/default editing style leans more towards “light and airy” but has a healthy dose of “contrast and emotive”… really it’s dependent on the photo.
Contrast & Emotive
Known for its deep, rich, organic tones. It’s the style most associated with European looks and high fashion trends. Often described as the “Paparazzi” look, this popular style creates a very couture dramatic, and atmospheric feel that forces the viewer to see only what’s in the lit areas. The preferred style for fine art and editorial magazines.
Light & Airy
This is the most popular American style. It’s characterized by its soft, pastel hues, and dreamy vibe. This works beautifully with natural, organic scenes, as well as clean backgrounds in soft light. However, in this style, skies can often be blown out, turning them white.
FAQs
Why do I need to choose the editing style before the shoot?
Editing styles are much more than just filters applied to images. The chosen editing style affects how I approach and shoot, which locations I choose, what lighting techniques I use, and more.
Can I Choose More Than One Editing Style?
To maintain consistency across all of your images you should not do multiple editing styles for the same shoot.
What If I Can’t Decide?
If you’re unsure, I recommend talking to me to get advice. Certain editing styles pair well with specific types of scenes and venues, so I can provide further guidance as needed.
